FINAL DAY: JEFF
We slept inside last night due to university policy. Since the temperature was -30 at its low, we felt that it was not safe to be sleeping outside in that type of weather, instead we slept in the 24 hour lounge. To be honest with the heat in the lounge, and not showering for 3 days, we smelt really bad. Sorry to the students studying and had to bear with the stench!
Today we ended our fast at 12PM. I had class at 11:30AM, so when my class ended a early I ran outside to the shelter to see if there was any food. There was a pot of stew and I went to town. Food tasted sooo good, and this is only going without food for 1 day!! Many homeless people may go without food or minimal food for weeks.
Tonight we had our Open Forum, where we discussed our experiences during this campaign, answered questions from the public and talked about homelessness as a topic. It is nice to see that there are so many people supporting the campaign and so passionate about helping youth break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Big shout out to Kendra the manager of ROOF, who took the time out of her night to educate us more on the topic as well as answer our questions. This was definitely a night of reflecting and celebration of what a success the campaign is so far, especially the awareness and impact it is emitting for the community.
This is our last night sleeping outside, definitely a sad feeling. I will really miss the other participants, as well as the organizing committee. You guys have put in so much time and effort to plan this week and it turned out amazing. Thank you guys for creating an experience I will never forget!! Final push tomorrow, lets get it!!!!!!!!
Thank you all for the support and love.
