DAY #4: MEGAN
Today was the hardest day so far. It’s been extremely cold and snowy and windy. The snow began at 5am and was the type of snow that once it hits something it turns into water right away so all of our sleeping bags and clothing was very wet. We tried to salvage our sleeping area but the snow took over so we had to wait for it to stop snowing to start rebuilding our area. It was really hard to stand outside all morning. Our cheeks and toes were frozen and our energy levels have dropped a lot. We also began our fast at 12pm which definitely adds to the lower energy levels. It’s hard to stay awake with no food in our stomachs.
We just finished the Stand Up For Health event and it was extremely educational. If you haven’t heard of it, it essentially is a game where you are given random roles different than who you really are, and are faced with various decisions of how to spend (or not spend) your money and situations that challenge your work. It’s hard to explain right now (I’m falling asleep) but I really encourage you to check it out! It has the potential to educate all of us and really put life into prospective.
Tomorrow night we have open forum and I’m really looking forward to it. Hearing other people express their take on situations and just speak about experiences is really interesting. It creates so much food for thought and really challenges you to think about things on another level and from another perspective. Hearing and understanding another perspective can change your whole view on something. It’s amazing how quickly what seems to be your set-in-stone opinion can change once you hear and open your mind to someone elses.
I am falling asleep right now typing this so I’m going to go figure out our sleeping arrangements. I’ve said it a lot but there is definitely no limit to how much I can say it, THANK YOU for being so supportive and helping out a great cause. We all appreciate everything that has been done so far and continue to be amazed by everyone’s kindness.
