Testimonial from Andrew Ward – Resource Assistance for Youth

“Youth Homelessmess and poverty is an issue which affects, and reflects, our community as a whole. It’s a daily fact of life when commuting from the suburbs to downtown seeing a young person on a street corner asking from change – yet often we turn the other cheek ignoring and hoping it will go away, never to be spoken about except in apathy or disdain. The organizers and sleepers of 5 Days for the Homeless are directly and tangibly addressing the issue of youth homelessness, not by posing or pretending, but by raising awareness and stirring conversation. Their action and fundraising efforts support an agency which, quite literally, houses, educates and employs Winnipeg’s homeless. In today’s day and age, in Canada, there is absolutely no reason kids should be living on the street; no reason they should not have the same opportunities the majority of us had growing up – that is a conversation that can never stop.”
