The University of Manitoba is in its 8th year of facilitating the 5 Days for the Homeless campaign. We are excited to be raising funds for RaY or Resource Assistance for Youth, an organization that provides resources for homeless youth right here in Winnipeg. Our event will take place from the 7th to the 12th of March on the U of M campus.

Some important dates for this year include:
-5K for the Homeless – March 6th, 2016 | 11am | Asper School of Business, 181 Freedman Crescent
-Opening Ceremonies – March 7th, 2016 | 12 noon | Fishbowl, Asper School of Business, 181 Freedman Crescent
-5 Acts for the Homeless – March 11, 2016 | Nicolino’s Restauant, 4-2077 Pembina Highway
-Closing Ceremonies – March 12, 2016 | 12 noon | Fishbowl, Asper School of Business, 181 Freedman Crescent

“Youth Homelessmess and poverty is an issue which affects, and reflects, our community as a whole. It’s a daily fact of life when commuting from the suburbs to downtown seeing a young person on a street corner asking from change – yet often we turn the other cheek ignoring and hoping it will go away, never to be spoken about except in apathy or disdain. The organizers and sleepers of 5 Days for the Homeless are directly and tangibly addressing the issue of youth homelessness, not by posing or pretending, but by raising awareness and stirring conversation. Their action and fundraising efforts support an agency which, quite literally, houses, educates and employs Winnipeg’s homeless. In today’s day and age, in Canada, there is absolutely no reason kids should be living on the street; no reason they should not have the same opportunities the majority of us had growing up – that is a conversation that can never stop.”
