Why I am doing this:
Hi, my name is Nickia and I am currently in my first year at the Alberta School of Business majoring in strategic management and organization.
I am so excited to be working alongside such wonderful individuals for this year’s 5 Days for the Homeless Campaign. As one of the student relationship executives, one of my goals is to engage students in the involvement of 5 Days, YESS and most importantly homeless youth. We often overlook youth homelessness; however, it is a challenge that some individuals face daily. I realize that I may not be the best candidate to represent homeless youth, I also realize that this campaign is not a simulation of the struggles that homeless youth face. However, with this campaign, I hope to bring awareness to youth homelessness by challenging the existing perceptions and stigma of homeless youth. By participating in 5 Days, I hope to be proactive, keep the conversation going and make an effort in helping those affected get back on their feet.
What will be the hardest part?
I think the hardest part of this will be finding the balance between school and extra curricular while spreading the word about homeless youth at risk. I hope to have as much time to bring awareness to many throughout the campaign!
